Mercredi: The Art of Beauty

We talked about the magickal properties of carrots yesterday and today I’d like to discuss their cosmetic potential.  Just as carrots can bring you a magickal boost, so they can make your skin glow.  And not just because you’re eating them.

A 50/50 blend of carrot juice and spring water makes a mild facial cleanser that even young children can safely use.  For guys, it’s a great rinse to encourage skin to settle down after shaving.  For even more soothing, a carrot mask is great for almost all types of skin.

2 to 3 large carrots, peeled, steamed and mashed
½ cup plane yogurt
2 tbsps honey

Once the carrots are room temperature, mix everything thoroughly in a small bowel.

Apply to cleansed face, avoiding eye and mouth area, and relax for 15 minutes.  Rinse thoroughly with warm water and follow up with a splash of cold water to tighten pores.

The carrot is mildly exfoliating, the yogurt is both exfoliating and soothing and the honey has antiseptic properties that will help clear up blemishes.  If you have extremely sensitive or Rosacea prone skin, consider substituting a large, mashed avocado for the carrots.  This makes a nice alternate mask for summertime since the avocado is cooling as well as soothing.  A votre santé~
